Now hiring for the following positions:

Transportation Operations Supervisor

Paratransit, Inc. is now accepting applications for a full-time Transportation Operations Supervisor to supervise the dispatch center and driving operations.

This position is considered safety-sensitive and subject to Paratransit, Inc. drug and alcohol testing program.

Applications will be accepted through August 15, 2014. A current DMV printout no more than 30 days old must be submitted with the completed employment application.

The minimum qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Clean DMV record
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience with elderly and/or disabled persons
  • Knowledge of Sacramento area and strong mapping skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Desirable qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Two or more years of professional driving experience
  • Valid Class B California Driver License with Passenger Endorsement
  • Scheduling software experience, especially Trapeze
  • Computer experience
  • Supervisory and/or training experience

Typical Duties:

Supervise, direct, implement, coordinate, and organize various activities and functions related to Paratransit driving and dispatching operations, including hiring, training, evaluation, and discipline. Supervise vehicle operators, dispatchers, and other technical support staff. Coordinate, prepare, and maintain operations-related records and reports as required. Conduct internal incident/accident investigations. Provide assistance and support functions to the Training Department including developing and implementing training programs, training in accordance with established methods and procedures, and providing staff support and assistance with classroom orientation. Provide support to dispatchers in the Dispatch Center on a regular basis.

Vehicle Operators

Paratransit, Inc. is now accepting applications for Vehicle Operators to operate Paratransit vehicles safely and efficiently in the door-to-door transport of passengers to scheduled sites; to assist passengers on and off assigned vehicle; to assure the safety of passengers while riding in assigned vehicles; and to maintain accurate records and logs of trip information as required. The schedules for this position vary between the hours of 4:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., five or six days per week including weekends and holidays. The minimum qualifications include, but are not limited to:

Vehicle Operators are eligible for medical and dental benefits on the first day of the next complete calendar month after being employed sixty days. After successful completion of five months probation, Vehicle Operators receive ten paid designated holidays per year and begin accruing paid vacation and paid sick leave. Paratransit, Inc. provides uniform shirts at no cost to the employee.

Vehicle Operators are required to join the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU).
