About the Childcare Center...
At Paratransit, Inc., our goal is not only to provide for the transportation needs of the disabled and elderly, but to benefit the community around us as well. It is our quest to promote independence and self-sufficiency for all people, and to increase the quality of life for children, adults and families. In response to an urgent need for safe, accessible, quality child care, we are building a Childcare Center designed to meet the needs of both disabled and able-bodied children. The center will be exceptionally accessible to children with disabilities, and will be the only one of its kind in Sacramento.
Studies have shown that a child's early experiences have a profound effect on their success later in life. Children who have the opportunity to experience quality early childhood education are better prepared to succeed in school and in life. They have better language abilities, fewer behavior problems and higher levels of performance. Our program will be designed to enhance each individual child's growth and ability to be successful in school and in the community. Our focus will be on providing a nurturing, stimulating environment that will maximize each child's potential through after-school programs, community gardening, mentoring, reading tutors and interaction with their environment through participation in art and photography.
The Paratransit, Inc., Childcare Center will be open for public enrollment to children from six months to twelve years of age, and will accommodate 150 children. Services will be affordable and available during both traditional and non-traditional hours, increasing employment opportunities for wage-earners who work early mornings, night shifts or on the weekends. In addition, our goal is to design the facility as a "green" building, with emphasis on solar energy and becoming energy neutral.
